About Us
Welcome…
The Adur Centre Sailing Club is aimed at people aged 10 – 18, but also welcomes family and adult membership. The club is based at the Adur Outdoor Activities Centre on the River Adur at Shoreham. Our aims are to teach sailing to complete beginners and those who wish to improve their sailing skills, so that they can safely and competently sail elsewhere.
We provide every thing you need in order to learn how to sail. E.g. qualified instructors, safe equipment, sailing dinghies to sail…The Club is an R.T.C. (Recognised Training Centre, by the Royal Yachting Association), which means the training that is provided is to a recognised standard whether or not you are seeking an R.Y.A. certificate. All of the Club instructors are R.Y.A. qualified and teach by the accepted R.Y.A. method. They all give their time and services voluntarily.
The club offers many oppurtunities to young people, in order for them to further their sailing abilities. If gives young people the choice of earning many RYA qualifications, which are recognised in the boating industry.
All members of the club are extremely freindly and enjoyable to be around. When sailing all instructors and members work as a team, to insure everyone is safe. Every sailing session is a lot of fun and we enjoy many laughs, while we are all gaining the relevant experience and knowledge about sailing. The club goes on various trips, in order to give the members a different experience, to what the River Adur offers. E.g. Chichester Harbour, Tall Ship sailing to France… Many members of the club stay with us for many years as they enjoy being with the club so much. All members who stay on, generally become qualified instructors and help run the club to the high standards its been run at, for many years.
